Care for Me

Choosing the Right Elderly Care for a Loved One

How to choose the right elderly care for a loved one

When the time comes to choose elderly care for a loved one or family member it is often stressful At Care for Me, we aim to reduce your anxiety by providing a menu of care options that are adaptable to the individual’s needs. Our staff are always here to listen to your concerns and answer your questions, no matter how trivial they might seem to you and we’d like to offer some suggestions about the things you should consider when you start your search for appropriate care at home.

What level of care is required?

The first step is to determine what level of care is needed. Essentially, home care is divided into two categories: skilled care, which caters to specific medical needs, and companion care. The latter is wide ranging and includes housekeeping, shopping, meal preparation and personal care, including bathing and feeding.

For example, our Companion Care package enables people who just need help with some tasks to remain at home and we have a team of companion Carers who will provide that much needed assistance with all the above mentioned jobs, including walking and feeding pets, putting on make-up and selecting clothes for the day.

Our Personal Care package offers more complex services requiring a qualified nursing professional for clients who need a more ‘hands on’ approach to cope with a variety of medical conditions.

We also have specialised Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care, Live-In Care and Complex Care that you can read about on our website under Care Services.

The questions to ask

It is also important to look at the company who is providing the care. Here are a series of questions you should find the answers to when making a decision.

  • Does it provide well-written literature explaining its services?
  • How many years has it been providing care and is it certified by a regulatory body?
  • Does it provide the services that you require and is it flexible about meeting the needs of the individual?
  • Are the staff professionally qualified and does it evaluate staff performance?
  • Does the service include the client and his or her family members in developing the plan of care?

Care for Me can provide you with affirmative answers to all these questions and more. Care for Me Nursing Care is registered and licensed to provide nursing services, by the Spanish Sanitary Authority. All of our skilled nurses are registered in Spain and are fully insured. We offer a comprehensive service, from companion care to specialised medical care including, oncology, cardiology, surgical, medical and palliative care, and we have care assistants for those times when nursing assistance is not required.
